Majestic Family Services is a successful, expanding Kent based Residential Parenting Assessment Centre providing specialist parenting assessments for Local Authorities and the Courts. The quality of our assessments has been graded as ‘Outstanding’ in our most recent Ofsted Inspection.

The role of the available positions is to provide safety, support, care, guidance to families who are placed with us for assessment. A large part of the role involves detailed monitoring and recording.

Job Descriptions

Job Title: Residential Resource Worker
Responsible to: Manager
Location: Majestic Family Services

To support and work with parents and children encouraging them to value themselves, encouraging parents to meet their own needs and those of their children within a residential or community setting. To be an effective and efficient member of a dynamic team contributing to the running of the unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To work alongside and in partnership with team members and other professionals (Social Workers, Police, Legal Services, Education, and Health) to families reach targets and expectations as outlined in their placement plans.
  2. To promote the understanding and importance of key life skills, and appropriate behaviours to help parents reach their full potential by encouraging the development of practical management and nurturing skills by recording, monitoring and observing parental interaction with their children and feeding back to the Lead Assessment Social Worker.
  3. To liase with Professionals and demonstrate appropriate behaviour management strategies in line with Majestic Family Services Policies on promoting positive behaviour in parents and children.
  4. Keep up to date and accurate records of the resident’s progress to help plan for their needs and enable other team members to fulfil their duties and responsibilities.
  5. To attend regular supervision seminars and staff meetings, and undertake training as required.  
  6. Contribute to reports and meetings as required to assist in planning to meet the needs of the parents and children.
  7. Undertake any other duties or responsibilities as required by the manager to assist the functioning of the centre or care towards the families. This includes domestic tasks such as cooking and cleaning.

Personal Specification

Minimum Criteria:

Due to Ofsted Regulations, all employees must be over 21 years of age

Physically fit and able to carry out physical intervention when necessary

Resilient and motivated person

Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Calm, approachable manner, adaptable and non-judgemental

Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team

Basic housekeeping and cooking skills

Desirable Criteria:

GCSE in Maths and English at C Grade or above

NVQ or Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent

Previous experience in working in a residential care setting or with children and families

Any relevant or transferrable skills, such as First Aid trained

Ability to drive and hold a full driving licence

Knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding


Job Title: Shift Leader
Responsible to: Manager
Location: Majestic Family Services

Lead a shift and work as a member of a team providing a nurturing and safe environment which will promote the emotional and physical well-being of all residents.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead a shift of residential resource workers in providing the day to day care and meeting the needs of the parents and children resident in the unit.
  2. Contribute to the assessment of individual needs of residents and the development of constructive and detailed placement plans and ensure these are carried out.
  3. Promote equality for all individuals which recognises and encourages anti-discriminatory behaviour, client rights, choices, personal beliefs and identity. Behave in a professional manner at all times.
  4. Keep up-to-date with and help and ensure compliance with the company policies and procedures.
  5. Participate fully in team meetings, training and development and the supervision process.
  6. Assist in the accurate recording of resident’s daily reports and other associated documentation in line with house procedures.
  7. Liaise closely with other colleagues and professionals to ensure effective service delivery.
  8. Participate in a cost effective rota system and sleep in duties when required.
  9. Ensure adequate and appropriate staffing cover in the absence of the Manager.
  10. Keep up to date with developments in social work theory, practice and legislation and service provision for children and families.
  11. Advise management of service deficiencies.
  12. Participate in in-service training and assist the manager in promoting and developing good practice with a view, if unqualified, to future professional training and to contribute to the development of other workers.
  13. Take responsibility for the day to day maintenance and housekeeping of the house in the absence of the Manager, ensuring and promoting a welcoming environment.

Job Title: Assessing Social Worker

Job summary

The role of an assessing social worker is a key position that assesses the parenting capacity of families that are placed with us as well as maintaining, improving and developing the quality and standards of childcare practice as part of the team in our residential family centre.

you will be responsible for the undertaking of parenting assessments and co-ordinating support programmes for families in placement.

This is an exciting role in a unique, expanding organisation

Our approach and intervention are primarily based around attachment theory research and the ADAM (Assessment of Disorganised Attachment and Maltreatment) model.

Required education & skills

  1. You must be professionally registered with the HCPC, and eligible to work in the UK
  2. You must have a relevant Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work/DipSW or equivalent)
  3. Previous Children and Families social work experience, preferably of at least 3 years, with experience of undertaking parenting assessments and of giving oval evidence in Family Court
  4. Full working knowledge of current statutory and regulatory guidelines governing the operation of Parenting Assessment Centres, services for children and young people and of child care legislation
  5. Full UK Driving Licence and use of own car
  6. Flexibility, adaptability and confidentiality
  7. You will be required to form part of an on call team
  8. You will be required to supervise staff

Key responsibilities

  1. To assess the parenting capacity of parents placed with us. Also to give supervision, advice and support to families
  2. To prepare reports and maintain accurate and timely records as appropriate
  3. Attending and reporting to various meetings (e.g placement planning meetings), which will on occasions take place ‘out of hours’
  4. To attend court to give oral evidence
  5. To participate in the out of hours’ service
  6. To supervise less experienced staff
  7. To review referrals from Local Authorities or other such bodies. Arranging and attending referral meetings
  8. Attending pre-placement planning meetings, case conferences, internal planning meetings and statutory reviews on families who are or may be placed
  9. To act professionally at all times
  10. To hold regular reviews and supervisions with members of the staff team in line with National Minimum Standards
  11. Manage a caseload of families placed at the house
  12. Provide day to day support for parents and their children
  13. Effective data management of all information regarding families and referrals in accordance with Data Protection principles
  14. To be familiar with legislation governing residential family Services such as National Minimum Standards and regulations, The Children Act, and so on
  15. To maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act
  16. To review existing systems and working patterns to continually improve the running of the service
  17. Liaise with senior managers over general enquiries
  18. Able to print out reports/statistical data, as required, with the ability to work to agreed timescales and deadlines
  19. Able to manage time effectively, prioritise workload, plan ahead and achieve deadlines
  20. Attend training courses as allocated by your line manager
  21. Effective communication with colleagues, external representatives and other professionals (Social Workers, Police, Education, and Health)
  22. To support the Directors in preparation for Ofsted Inspections and Commissioners requirements
  23. To perform such other tasks, commensurate with the duties outlined above, as deemed appropriate

    £7.20-£11.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

    • We are currently offering full time, part time and Flexible Zero Hours contracts working within a rota system which includes shift work and sleep-ins. We are also offering Night work positions for shifts between 11pm and 9am
    • 37.5 hours per week (full time) in addition at least 2 sleep-ins each week
